For the last few months I have been trying to live a bit of a healthier lifestyle by making changes when it comes to my diet and exercise regime as well as my mental wellbeing.
Honestly it’s all been a bit of a disaster…
We’ve not been doing great with our diet, especially being on holiday, and I’ve been skipping out on the gym a lot.
It wasn’t until we were back from holiday and chatting in bed one night when Nick suggested rejoining Slimming World, but this time together. I’ve done Slimming World on and off for the last 3 maybe 4 years, and I feel the fundamentals of the plan are engraved in my brain forevermore. It made sense that this was the method we chose.
At first I didn’t think he was serious and asked him a few times the next day, but he was. And this week we both went to my old Slimming World group together. I was actually super nervous about going back to group because I’ve not been in over 6 months, but I was definitely worrying over nothing.
Walking through the doors was so welcoming and Lisa, my consultant came over to give me a big hug and it felt so normal. It was the Miss Slinky and Mr Sleek competitions this week so it was a great week to start.
I was worried Nick expected some kind of Little Britain / fat fighters or just a bunch of women sat around talking about diet foods, so I’m so glad he got to hear from some of the men who have lost some amazing amounts of weight. He said afterwards that he really related to what the guys were saying and I’m so happy!
So as of now we are back on it. We both paid for the 12 week countdown to commit to doing this. We’ve been preparing our lunches and have planned all our meals this week; during the week we’ll have easy/convenient food that I can stick in the slow cooker or prepare when I get home from work but on the weekends we’ve decided to be a bit adventurous and try new recipes.
It’s going well so far and we both seem to be in the zone, so just hoping it continues.
